Operation Pads for vulnerable girls and women: let's end period poverty. Donate 1 pad

Girls in poor homes or in rural communities in Cameroon face difficulties during their menstrual periods be it at the level of education, accessibility to pads etc. The lack of sanitary pads and other menstrual hygiene tips is very present in the lives of women and girls. Some girls even stay home because of lack of pads to protect themselves, some even use unhygienic methods just to pad themselves. Join us end period poverty by donating even 1 dollar. 

Dr Tumasang Swiri Foundation in Cameroon aims at raising awareness about this problem. The objective of this initiative:

- Provide sanitary pads to girls in rural areas and in poor homes.: vulnerable girls

- Teach girls and vulnerable women how to make reusable sanitary pads and how to use them

- educate girls about menstrual hygiene and how to manage their periods

We aim at ending period poverty, stigma and discrimination related to menstraution. There are so many diseases related to poor menstrual health such as infections which can lead to infertility.

Through workshops, seminars and visits to schools, we will put this action in place.

By the end of this initiative, we expect to have impacted 5000 grils and women. The following activities will be carried out: 

- distribute 500 sanitary pads for free to the most vulnerable girls

- educate 2000 adolescent girls in secondary schools on menstrual hygiene and safe periods. 

- We will hold 3 workshops in rural communities where we will teach about 1000 young girls and women how to make reusable sanitary pads, menstrual hygiene and calculating the menstrual cycle to avoid unwanted pregnancies.

- Hold 1 seminar with stakeholders (businessmen, government officials, NGOs etc) to raise awareness and advocate for low prices for sanitary pads. The aim is to  make  sanitary pads accessible and available to all.
