I just heard the most annoying defence for the UK riots.
The guy who unalived the three girls is their citizen merely of African descent.
If he had entered forbes or being an Olympian, he would be listed as British not African, his trophy would not be going to an African country.
I can almost bet if he was raised in Africa, his head would have been reset even if he had the slightest inclination towards harming others.
It would be great if the civilized countries started being responsible not just for their adapted civilization but also the negative repercussions of their attempt to genuinely set the pace in uncharted waters of absolute - yet quite biased - freedom.
Only by accepting this, can they genuinely sit and find a lasting solution to underlying extremist rhetoric veiled within assumed history
I am a proud African girl of Yoruba descent and a Christian by choice.
Despite being called uncivilised by the west, the most violent response you would get from a similar incident in my country would be jungle justice on the offender not people who share his skin colour or accent.
Who then needs to teach the other about virtues, values, rights and so much more?
Should Africa be the student or the teacher ?
Africans are people who value other's perception and so not spare the rod in ensuring coming generations now the value of their family name, community, state and country. All of which most never be spiked by your action or inaction at home or on foreign soil.
I have read the defence of mental health, it could hold up in a UK court but once life is lost, a Nigerian court knows pulling that card is what would lead to a riot.
I don't think anywhere is perfect but we need to learn to be confident about our position on issues as government and citizens, so that we are equally ready for the consequences of our speech, action or inaction no matter how dire.
When you consider #blacklivesmatter with recent uK riots is definitely going to take a while to be considered close. In that time, I wish every coloured person the best
Stay safe
