- Community-wide efforts to improve air quality can benefit everyone, especially those with asthma.
Campaign Activities
- Asthma Awareness Walk: Organize a walk or run to raise awareness about asthma and its environmental triggers. Distribute informational materials on asthma triggers and prevention measures.
- Asthma-Friendly Home Workshops: Organize workshops to educate individuals on how to create an asthma-friendly home environment. Topics could include proper ventilation, use of air filters, reducing exposure to dust mites, and managing pet dander.
- Asthma-Friendly Schools: Partner with local schools to promote asthma-friendly policies such as reducing the use of cleaning chemicals, maintaining clean air filters, and creating allergen-free zones.
- Air Quality Monitoring: Install air quality monitors in public places such as parks, playgrounds, and community centers. Share the data collected with the public to raise awareness about the impact of air pollution on asthma.
- Social Media Campaign: Use social media to promote the Asthma-Friendly Environment Campaign. Share tips on reducing exposure to asthma triggers and engage with the public through hashtags and online events.
I was diagnosed with Asthma when I was in high school, this problem started when I was a kid but I guess by then no one paid attention. If anyone has asthma I’m sure you’d understand the struggle that comes with it. The COVID-19 period was the worst.
I clearly remember when I got an asthma attack and went to the hospital, believe me even nurses were scared to touch me thinking I have covid, the symptoms that come with covid were closely similar to asthma so you can imagine. Worst case, an attack happens in public, people would be looking at me, it attracts a hell of attention and very few people would even know what to do or how to help. I would feel very helpless.
This makes me think, how come asthma is so underrated like you’d hardly even find an initiative that supports asthma patients, the hospital costs are super high, I mean it’s just so devastating.
I tend to wonder, can it be any different? This is actually a killer condition. This is why I would like to see an initiative on asthma care, which will educate society on handling and living with asthma patients, my research tells me that women have asthma more than men, and it brings lots of complications for example during pregnancy.
Help me spread the message, let's make a friendly environment for Asthma patients
