Empowering Girls in Technology: My Journey as a Technovation Mentor.

Attention all women! Are you passionate about technology and want to make a difference in the world? Do you want to empower young girls to pursue their interests in technology and help bridge the gender gap in the field? If so, then it's time for you to enroll as a mentor in Technovation!

In today's digital age, it's crucial that everyone has the skills and tools to participate in the technological revolution, regardless of their gender or background. However, young girls are often discouraged from pursuing interests in technology and ICTs due to societal norms and stereotypes. That's why initiatives like Girls in ICT Day are so important – they encourage and inspire girls to participate in technology and help bridge the gender gap in the field.

As a woman who has been involved in the tech industry for many years, I believe it's our duty to help mentor and encourage young girls who are interested in technology. That's where Technovation comes in – a global tech education non-profit organization that empowers girls and women to become tech entrepreneurs and leaders.

Technovation offers programs and resources for girls of all ages to develop their tech skills and gain real-world experience. One of the ways Technovation accomplishes this is through their annual global tech competition, which challenges teams of girls to develop innovative mobile apps that address social issues in their communities. As a mentor for Technovation teams, you'll have the privilege of working with young girls from diverse backgrounds and helping them develop their tech skills and confidence.

Through my experience with Technovation, I've learned that many young girls are intimidated by digital tools and technology. They often feel like they don't belong in the tech industry, or that they're not good enough to succeed. As a mentor, your job is to help them overcome those fears and realize that they have the skills and talent to succeed in tech.

My advice to young girls who are intimidated by digital tools is to start small and build their skills gradually. They don't need to be experts overnight – they just need to be willing to learn and try new things. There are so many resources available online, from tutorials to forums to communities of like-minded individuals, that can help them build their skills and confidence.

But mentoring young girls is not just about building their skills and confidence. It's also about creating a supportive and inclusive environment. Girls need role models and mentors who can show them that they belong in the tech industry and that they have the potential to be successful. By enrolling as a mentor in Technovation, you'll be part of a community of supportive individuals who are passionate about technology and who inspire and encourage girls to pursue their interests and goals.
