Early childhood is a critical period for a child’s development, laying the foundation for lifelong learning, health and well-being. Unfortunately many children especially in underserved communities lack access to quality care and development opportunities.

Dunia Rafiki initiate and support community-based ECD centers, enhance existing services, and champion quality education at the grassroots. To this end, we engage with government, private sector, and community stakeholders, fostering a comprehensive ECD network.

With a focus on registration, cognitive development activities, nutrition, infrastructure, and resources, we ensure enduring ECD programs, reinforcing the infrastructure that cultivates thriving, productive adults who can positively transform their communities.

Recently Dunia Rafiki launched one of its kind community-based ECD Center in Luchelele ward. The centre provides children from underserved community comprehensive, integrated child-friendly services such as cognitive development activities, nutrition support and basic healthcare service (growth and promotion, deworming, vaccination, nutritional supplements and referrals services) to children aged 3-5. The centre offer also workshops, training sessions, and support groups sessions for parents and caregivers through a central location.

Currently there are 48 children enrolled at the center expecting to receive more children due to the fact that there are no any other community-based ECD centre that serve children from low-income families in this area (ward). This initiative aims to impact the growth, learning and life outcomes of over 200 children while supporting over 250 parents/caregivers in 2024.
