“ You too can become a Tech-Savvy Woman”

After staying offline for 6 months, I decided to log on because I realised the Internet is a bank full of resources. To stay safe online,I had to think well before I post,I blocked and muted another user from seeing my profile,I kept personal details private including my address, turned off location settings, logged out of my account when I am using a public computer,I make sure that my password is strong and I change my password regularly.

In 2016, I became very active online and was selected as a UN Economic Empower Women Mentor where I mentored 5 women on the importance of Women's Economic Empowerment.I have used the Internet to mentor more than 234 youths across the Commonwealth as a Queen's Young leader. In 2017, World Pulse published my story story "Because I am  Girl" and I became a "Featured Story teller". Since then , I have encouraged more than 32 women in my community to join World Pulse. In May 2018, I was selected by the African Network Information  Center (AFRINIC) to participate in the African Internet Summit in Senegal where I participated in the policy discussions on the advancement of the African Internet. This summit inspired me to create a whattsapp group called "Opportunity Forum" that has over 357 ( 103 boys and 254 girls) members and has helped linked members to jobs and opportunities. Presently, I train young women and girls in my community on how to use LinkedIn and search for remote (work from home) and hybrid jobs,fellowship/scholarship programs.l

As  a Tech Savvy woman, my future goal is to become a content creator and advocate for the rights of women, train women  on web-designing and graphic designs.I envisage a world where women should not  only be users of the Internet but app developers, product creators, tech marketing experts and tech entrepreneurs building businesses.I want a world where women  can be able to participate and influence policy discussions about the Internet, the operation of the Domain Name System and the security and stability  of the global internet and help mentor the next generation of girls in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

DigitAll for me is a safe space where women can share their stories, gain visibility for their work, have collaborators and build lasting networks and get access to opportunities. DigitAll can help women and girls to be more productive and build economically sustained and vibrant communities. DigitAll can help pave the way for the next generation of Tech-Savvy Women.
