To mark two decades of promoting women's/girls rights and development in Nigeria, I planted and named *Tree Working Fingers* aka Tree Gender Equality at the popular Nelson Mandela Gardens of 95 Trees, situated at Asaba International Airport , Delta State, Nigeria, to celebrate Gender Advocates and Female Activists all over the world as we comemorate the 2022 Women's month on 18th March.
The Officials of the Delta State Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Women Affairs, Social and Community Development and other Civil Society Organizations witnessed this very important activity as they looked on with admiration of my determination to make impact!!
I am mostly excited because all the gender bills at the National Assembly were turned down on the 1st of March, 2022 by the 95% male dominated House. On the 8th of March, I was amongst the 1million women match that were locked out, and we all with male advocates stood still at the NASS gate at Abuja while we were celebrating our Gender Equality progress...YES...We are making progress in the Nigerian Women Movement...!!!
Some chuvinist scorn at me/us that the wish for Gender Equality will continue to be a dream...but I dare to plant this Gender Equality Tree to let them remember in a few years to come that Gender Equality in all areas of life will be attained in my/our lifetime in Nigeria!!!
I particularly knelt down, used my bare hands without gloves to plant this memorable Tree Gender Equality. To let women/girls know that we must stoop to conquer the Gender Equal Society that we so desire. With Education and good character at home and in public places, we shall break every bias and attain Gender Equality Today For a Sustainable Tomorrow...
