There was a special meeting on 8 July 2024 themed “United in Change” on Zoom where for the last time Jensine Larsen, Founder of World Pulse, chaired the meeting moderated by Jeanine Becker, attended by 27 members- the board of directors, Powershift Inclusive Excellence (PIE), staff and the incoming CEO, Lourdes Rivas, and significant for Jensine Larsen’s reflection on the journey and the vision with which World Pulse was started 20 years ago and the change in leadership for carrying the baton forward to fulfil World Pulse’s aspirations for the future. It was also a great opportunity for the attendees to understand the mid-year status in terms of present and future plans for World Pulse as an organisation and its community-online and offline.

The high points of the meeting were the invitation and (virtual) presence of many World Pulse members who have either played an important part in its journey or have been long time members, Jensine Larsen introducing Lourdes Rivas with the latter’s strengths in use of technology in gender justice and ensure the reach of our sisterhood to every corner of the world, and Lourdes highlighting the new strategic plan for World Pulse. The meeting saw a celebration of voices where members and staff delivered emotional expressions of gratitude, inspiration, respect, awe, love and encouragement along with memories they had with/of Jensine over the years. Board member (community chair), Olutosin Oladoshu Adebowale from Nigeria recited her poem titled, “The Glory to Us” dedicated to World Pulse and the power of sisterhood.

The meeting served to introduce the change in World Pulse’s leadership, of taking cognizance of the milestones as well as the challenges in a dynamic world, and pool in collective strengths, resources, and vision to work together for the next chapter.
